[Which isn't to say that she's trying to generalize it. Just that a lot of people have complicated pasts, and that if he doesn't want to, then he doesn't need to offer her any more than that.
I was in a world once where the people in charge tried to have everyone they considered a mutant killed. But mutants there were anyone that had special abilities, or something that made them look like they might not be human.
[So that's it. The difference isn't that they have abilities, but it's built into their bodies. From the moment they're born, there's something different about a "mutant" than everyone else.
Even so, he's right. The danger probably isn't much different, and neither is the way people treat you.]
